Fletcher Animal Hospital

Meet Our Staff

Dr. Galligan, aka Dr. Pat, joined the Fletcher Animal Hospital team in May 2001, after two years at a successful  veter- inary hospital in Rutherford County.  However, the lure of having his own practice enticed him into purchasing Fletcher Animal Hospital.  Pat and his wife, Kit, were married in 1991 and have one daughter, Maeve, and a son, Huffman Patrick.  The Galligans also have three pets - Justice, a chocolate lab; Bogey, a pug; and Henderson, a domestic short hair cat.  Dr. Pat enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, travel and spending time in the great outdoors.

Dr. Pat grew up near the Charlotte, North Carolina area, where he attended Independence High School.  He served honorably in the Coast Guard from 1988 to 1992. During this time Pat was a jet engine mechanic and was part of the crew for helicopter Search and Rescue missions from a Coast Guard base in Brooklyn, New York.  Upon discharge from the USCG, Dr Pat attended North Carolina State University (NCSU) where he received degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry.  He graduated with honors from all three programs.  Following graduation he was accepted to the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia.  Pat studied diverse fields of animal care, including swine, ratite (ostriches and emus), livestock, and small animal medicine.  Pat decided to make small animal medicine his career.  He began work with the Oglethorpe County Spay/Neuter program and worked for the Animal Intensive Care Unit within the vet school.  Dr. Galligan graduated in 1999 and immediately returned to North Carolina to practice in his home state.
